Worlds Apart

Radoslaw (Radek) Janicki, born in 1970 in Lublin, Poland, developed his passion for nature photography while he was studying geography and environmental science. He has travelled the world with his cameras and taken photographs in 40 countries from 4 continents. With a doctorate degree in Environmental science, Radek has a unique insight into the subject matter of his art. His photographs often capture the magic of nature in the light of dawn, its mysteries in dramatic horizons and its banality in patterns and details.

Radek is a member of the Union of Polish Wildlife Photographers (ZPFP) since 1997.

Photographic exhibition "Worlds Apart" took place in Indonesian National Gallery in the end of 2008. It was organized by Embassy of the Republic of Poland and Indonesian National Gallery. The exhibition celebrates the 20th anniversary of artist's adventure with photography.

"Worlds Apart" is an exhibition about two countries: Indonesia and Poland, that share the same national colours: red and white. However these are two lands located on different hemispheres having different geology, hydrography, relief and climates and generating different flora and fauna. Despite the physical, cultural and other disparities, the photographs try to present a common reality of nature's vibrance and complexity.

The exhibition is divided into three parts. The first presents pictures from Indonesia and Poland paired into sets presenting clever similarities. The second shows distinctive landscapes from the two countries. The final part presents the broader canvass across four continents visited by the author, celebrating the 20th anniversary of artist's

In total, 64 framed photographs in size 30 x 45 cm were presented in different techniques: colour, sepia and black and white. But author went further to create special atmosphere such as through aging and using a technique called High Dynamic Range (HDR) to create stronger impact on certain photos.
